Technological background
Files and folders encryption proved to be a very efficient protection method when few files shall be encrypted. When user needs to protect big amount of information, this solution is a bit slow. For secure storage of big files or when lots of files shall be protected we suggest using n-Crypt disk encryption utility. This tool creates Encrypted Virtual Drive on your hard disk. This drive is not available when n-Tegrity is unplugged or n-Pass is not running. When this encrypted disk is mounted it is operated and managed as regular drive local or removable. The encryption is performed on the file system level. The file or partition container of this EVD is encrypted using the same military-grade encryption technology and algorithms as in the previous method.
How it works?
A user, wishing to create an encrypted disk is guided through 5-steps Wizard, which is convenient and user-friendly. He may select file-based or device-based container. When encrypting entire partition or disk user shall keep in mind that all data stored on this partition will be removed during format process. When file-based container is selected, user shall determine the size of future encrypted disk. This size cannot be changed afterwards. However user can create and mount as many disks as he needs. After creation and selection of drive letter and behavior, it is mounted and handled by Windows as regular drive.
Advantages and Benefits
- Simple creation process
- Automatic mount and dismount
- Ability to hide information.
- The disk and its content will be invisible if the disk is dismounted
- Transparent operation with disk when mounted. No reduction of data transfer speed.
Who need it?
- A parent that needs to protect his adult content from the kids’ access
- A corporate IT manager or security professional
- Any employee that carries valuable data on his laptop
- A lawyer keeping his client’s private information on his computer
- A physician keeping patients’ files on the hard disk
